Event N°32 : Feedback
By Pierre Neuville aka The Serial PokerStars Qualifier, Friday 20 June 2008 at 23:02 :: WSOP 2008
After a few hours of well deserved sleep, I realise I should not discredit this first success in Vegas. Yes, ending 40th infront of hundreds of celebrities and poker champions is well worth the mention "success".
If we look further up the table, Anthony Signore (who bet my Ax with a KK) ends up finishing 2nd. Good to know that I was not beaten by just any random player.
I can't stop but being amazed: at the Bahamas, at the start of the year, I had the same hand (Elky's KK against my AT), which woud imply that there is a 32% chance to see an ace land on the table ... and both times its my stack that got them to the final table.
It's poker, one needs as much patience as courage and I tell myself that on the third attempt, the cards will be in my favor !
After a week in Las Vegas, I've literally lost all notion of time. After 24h of traveling (9 hours of time difference), I headed straight to the poker rooms. Sleeping a few hours here and there, I did not even realize that we'd done 23 hours of poker out of 36, to get rid of 2260 players at the event 32...
Nor did I come aware to the fact that I was totally exhausted ! And only today do I gather that this is just an appitizer to the 3 world championships up ahead. There will be a "Senior no limit" on monday, followed by a "6 handed no limit" and last but not least, the main event, the world championship in itself.
So here I am with two days off ahead of me and a move to the Wynn Hotel where talented and friendly Davidi Kitai is also staying. A positive frame of mind has developped amongst us, and mental strenght is vital to get over all the bad beats that lie ahead on the road to success.
I also realize the importance of a very good physical condition for those hoping to stay a while at the WSOP.
I will therefore not forget to sleep well, eat healthy meals with fruits and vegetables; i'm even going to do a little bit of shopping and bring 2 bananas and 3 apples along with me at the poker tables so that I don't have to indulge on the chocolate snacks and other hamburgers that are made available to the players. Some seem to generously help themselves to it, and is quite obvious on some of the photos.
I also promised myself to do 20 pool lenghts per day, and 20 days of water diet as beverage, with some exceptions for light and sparkles.
Well, there will however be a beer and a large ice-cream while waiting for the next result...
